Conrad Smith as he does the basics well and is a very hard worker and a team man.

What qualities do you think make a great rugby player?

Someone who is honest with themselves and their team mates and is a hard worker.

What are your biggest achievements so far?

  • Deputy Head Boy at Shirley Boys’ High School
  • Played for the Crusader Junior Knights in 2015
  • Part of the Crusaders Pre-Academy programme
  • Played in the UC Championship final in 2015.

What’s next for you after school? 

Continue to play rugby but also head to university to study sports management as I want to have a balance between rugby and my education.

Composure, calmness, communication skills and the ability to think under pressure.

What are your biggest achievements so far?

  • Making the 2nd XV in Year 11
  • Playing in the Colts, the Under 21 grade, when only 15
  • Becoming Deputy Senior Monitor at CBHS in 2016.

What’s next for you after school? 

I plan to go to the University of Canterbury to study Civil Engineering. I also want to continue with rugby, with the goal of continuing to make the Canterbury Age Group teams.

Pre-game ritual: I always have a huge breakfast of oats on mornings of games and when I get to the field I do the exact same warm-up and stretch sequence

What qualities do you think make a great Rugby player? Someone who is gutsy, competitive but fair and willing to take a few knocks

What are your biggest achievements so far? School Prefect, Excellence in NCEA Level 1 and 2 – and top academic excellence awards for both of these levels, captain of touch and rugby, and school colours in touch and rugby, and our Forward Foundation team coming second in the UC Cup in 2015

What’s next for you after school? Tertiary study – at the moment I’m looking into potentially doing a Law or Landscape Architecture degree and of course to keep playing rugby!

What’s next for you after school? 

I am hoping to go to university for health science and then get into physiotherapy. I would like to work with a sports team as a physio.
