Andrew Ellis's rib injuries interrupted his 2009 season with the Crusaders but he bounced back after a break and played a full part for Canterbury in the 2009 Air New Zealand Cup. His form in that competition led to his selection in the All Blacks' end of year tour. He is a deceptively strong player with a real competitive streak. The former Burnside High School student is also a very good cricketer.
