Chris Hammett
« Back

One half of just three sets of brothers to have represented the Crusaders, Chris Hammett featured in the first four matches played by the side in the inaugural Super 12 before injury ended his campaign. At least the second rower received the opportunity to play alongside his elder brother Mark, two years his senior, on two occasions – against the Queensland Reds and againstWestern Province – before his involvement was curtailed. The Queensland match, while not being memorable for the Crusaders on the scoreboard, was at least significant in that two families provided half of the team’s forward pack, with the Hammett boys packing down alongside the Loe cousins, props Richard and Stu, in the Crusaders front five. A product of St Thomas’s College and the Marist Albion club, Chris Hammett also played eight matches for Canterbury in 1995 and 1996.
