A talented midfield back who has represented New Zealand at Under-19 and Under-20 level, an ankle injury halted Ryan Crotty’s debut season for Canterbury in 2008 just as he was establishing himself. Rehabilitation in the pool wasn’t too hard for Crotty as his mother Robyn is a former New Zealand water polo representative so he is a good swimmer. His father Steve played rugby for Nelson Bays. Crotty made his first start for the Crusaders in the 23-23 draw against the Western Force. He started at second-five inside Tim Bateman, who played centre, and scored the first try early in the match.
Shout Out to Ryan Crotty and Win!
