2012 was a breakthrough year for Romano, impressing for both the Crusaders and for the All Blacks in his debut season.
His professional rugby career started with the Canterbury provincial team in 2009. This will be his third season for the Crusaders and he seems to be going from strength to strength as he gains in experience and confidence.
A builder by trade, Romano was a promising cricketer until he was overcome by injury and made the switch to rugby.
