Matt Todd took the opportunity to make his mark with the absence of Richie McCaw during last season's Crusaders campaign. His intelligence on field was highly valued by the team as was his outstanding defensive abilities and skills at the breakdown. His hard work paid off seeing Todd called up to the All Blacks during 2013.
Todd first joined the Crusaders in 2011 after a year in the Wider Training Squad and an impressive ITM Cup campaign for Canterbury, which resulted in him being awarded the 2010 Canterbury player of the year.
“He took his opportunties for the Crusaders and was one of our best players last year. He epitomises everything you expect from a professional player, and more. He works hard off the field and was rewarded with All Blacks selection. We are looking forward to him recovering from injury and being abck in the team.”
