Christchurch Girls High School

Position in team:

First five/half back

Your pre-game ritual:

Before a game we get together, go over our game structure, expectations and goals as a team. I then take time to think about my personal goals as a player and how I will keep the team connected and playing at their best abilities. I thin go into stretches, team run through and a quick team talk with all the player to start the game with intent.

What qualities do you think make a great leader?

I believe the key attributes that make a great leader are communication, respect and motivation. Communication is a key concept on the rugby field as it builds a team environment and helps players grow in confidence and make good decisions. With communication also comes respect to team mates, opposition, coaches and referees. Motivation comes with the desire to win and play at the best of your ability. Over I believe that all of these qualities build a leader that people will follow, learn from and respect.

What are some of your biggest achievements at school so far, rugby and/or study related?

Some of my most proudest achievements throughout rugby at CGHS would be winning the UC Cup 4 years in a row and coming second at the Condor sevens national tournament in 2017 and third in 2018. Some of my most proud achievements within school would be gaining the privilege of being head of sport and sports prefect as well as gaining the roles as deputy head of Acland boarding house. I am also proud to receive full colours in rugby, sevens and potentially lifesaving.
