The BNZ Crusaders' unbeaten run at the Brisbane Global Rugby Tens has ended with a 14-10 defeat by the Hurricanes in the Semi Final.

Captained by outside back George Bridge, the Crusaders had progressed straight to the Semi Final at Suncorp Stadium, having conceded just seven points in three matches to sit second on the overall tournament standings at the conclusion of pool play.

Following their win over the Waratahs in the Quarter Final, the Hurricanes joined the Crusaders in the second Semi Final of the evening.  Light rain in Brisbane made handling more difficult, and both sides produced their share of unforced errors throughout the match. The Hurricanes were first to put points on the board with a try to halfback Jamie Booth, converted by Jackson Garden-Bachop.

The Crusaders hit back almost instantly when Bridge sprinted 75 metres to score, in a brilliant individual effort. With 17 points to his name, Bridge again featured prominently for the BNZ Crusaders in the 2018 tournament.

Booth was back in the action quickly for the Hurricanes, crossing the chalk for his second of the match to take his side out to a 12-5 lead at the six-minute mark. Another Garden-Bachop conversion pushed the deficit out to 9, which the Hurricanes maintained through to the break.

It was half way through the second spell before winger Manasa Mataele put his side back in the race, finishing off a superb counter attack from within the Crusaders' own 22. With just four points separating the sides and time running out, the BNZ Crusaders continued to apply pressure to the line - but the defence was too strong and the Hurricanes held on to book their place in the Final against the Blues.

SCORERS: BNZ Crusaders 10 (George Bridge, Manasa Mataele tries) Hurricanes 14 (Jamie Booth 2 tries; Jackson Garden-Bachop 2 con)
