BNZ Crusaders announce new partnership with Stephenson & Turner

National architecture and engineering firm Stephenson and Turner (S&T) has formed a new partnership with the BNZ Crusaders, which will see them join the Super Rugby side as an official sponsor.
Christchurch based Architectural Principal and Chairman, Dennis Chippindale, is an avid supporter of the team and is excited to bring the rest of the organisation on board to back the Crusaders.
“As an avid fan of the Crusaders, I am delighted to integrate this partnership into our S&T family. Both organisations understand the importance of building strong teams and pursuing excellence on behalf of the wider Canterbury community,” Mr Chippindale said.
S&T are a multi-disciplinary architecture firm supported by building services engineers, providing design and consultancy work for a range of public and private clients across New Zealand since 1956.
With a mission to create a better designed and healthier built environment, S&T are passionate about adding art to science and magic to logic, with sustainability a core part of that mission.
S&T has been operating in the Christchurch region for six years, and its studio has expanded to a team of 10. The Canterbury team work on local projects to help invigorate the development of Christchurch post-earthquakes.
With its studio based in Cashel Street, their work has focussed on education and community projects and has included the design and build of a number of schools, including the Christchurch Innovation Schools programme, Marshland School, West Melton and most recently Ao Tawhiti Discovery School (pictured).
The latter project saw S&T design a purpose-built, four-storey urban school in inner-city Christchurch catering to an innovative and community-focussed alternative learning environment.
“On all our projects, we take great care to seamlessly design every building that we work on so that they provide fresh air, light and comfort as effectively as possible. We design architecture which does not put an undue load on the services required,” Mr Chippindale said.
Values and Culture aligned
Although rugby and architecture are quite different disciplines, there are key values that link the two, as BNZ Crusaders CEO, Colin Mansbridge, explained.
“We are excited to welcome Stephenson & Turner to the Crusaders family. As an organisation, they are closely connected to our local community here in Christchurch, they’re innovative and set high standards in the pursuit of excellence, which are values we share,” Mr Mansbridge said.
“Their collaborative team approach aligns with our organisation both on and off the field, and we look forward to working with Dennis and his team.”
Dennis Chippindale says that being people-focused and client-centric is what makes S&T stand out as a firm:“We pride ourselves on acting as a collaborative team, putting our client’s vision and needs first to achieve great results together. Our values of appreciation, trust and respect both for our people and our clients gives us a real edge.”
