Taufua re-signs with BNZ Crusaders

BNZ Crusaders’ loose forward Jordan Taufua will continue to play his rugby in red and black for at least another two years, having re-signed with the team until the end of 2018.
Taufua stormed onto the professional scene in 2012, when he was signed by Canterbury and loaned to Tasman in the national provincial competition. He was recalled to Canterbury in the later stages of the competition and helped them to secure the Premiership title. Taufua also made the Junior All Blacks side that year, playing in the 2012 IRB Junior World Championship. He was too good to be overlooked by the Crusaders, who signed him up for the 2013 Super Rugby season.
BNZ Crusaders Head Coach Todd Blackadder said he is a highly physical player, aggressive on defence and dangerous on attack, and has been in standout form for the Crusaders for the last couple of seasons.
“Jordan has earned the nickname ‘Beast’ from his teammates for good reason. He gives 100 percent every single time he takes the field and he is an intimidating force for any opposition to come up against,” Blackadder said. “Jordan is also a real team man, who makes a big contribution to our Crusaders culture. We see him as a very important part of the future of this team and we are delighted to have him on board for the next two years at least.”
Taufua said he was enjoying his rugby here too much to consider playing anywhere else.
“I am grateful for all of the opportunities I have had here, and I love playing for this team. I have been able to play alongside some world-class players here and learn from the best, which I think has helped to develop my own game. I’m just having a ball and I am excited to commit to the BNZ Crusaders for another two years.”
