Mitchell Dunshea first took a spot in the BNZ Crusaders squad in 2016, off the back of an incredible 2015 which saw him make the New Zealand U20 squad to compete at the Junior World Cup in Italy, find himself in the starting line-up for the final after a teammate was ruled out with a head knock, and then after walking away with the U20 world title Dunshea laced up for his Lincoln University Club and helped them to their first Division 1 club rugby championship since 1981.
All of that stood him in good stead to be selected for the Canterbury ITM Cup team for the first time in 2015, where he had an outstanding debut season.
Unfortunately a foot injury saw him miss the entire 2016 Super Rugby and provincial seasons, but he debuted for the Crusaders in 2017 and has just completed another outstanding season for the champion Canterbury team.
Born in Hamilton, Dunshea's family moved south when he was young and he attended both school and university in Lincoln. He can play at lock or loose forward.
