Mitchell Hunt earned himself the nickname 'Clutch' after twice showing an incredibly cool head under pressure in the 2017 Super Rugby season, with a match-winning over-time penalty goal against the Reds and an 83rd minute, 43 metre match-winning drop goal against the Highlanders.
Mitchell Hunt stepped up to Super Rugby level for the first time in 2016 at just 20 year of age. He plays at either fullback or first five-eighth, offering some useful depth in both positions for the BNZ Crusaders.
Hunt made the Nelson College First XV in year 11 and notched up 51 appearances. He played alongside fellow Crusaders Mitchell Drummond and David Havili.
He played for the New Zealand Under-20 team at the World Rugby Junior Championship in Italy, having impressed selectors by playing a starring role for New Zealand at the prior Oceania Rugby Junior Championship on the Gold Coast.
He played his debut provincial season for Auckland, having moved up there to study engineering at university, but returned home to play for Tasman in 2016.
