The Crusaders and NSW Waratahs will play for more than just first round points when they kick off their 2020 Investec Super Rugby campaign in Nelson on Saturday night. Both teams have pledged their support to Rural Aid’s Disaster Recovery Fund, and will donate $1000 for every try scored by their team in the match at Trafalgar Park.

The Crusaders overcame a slow start to beat the Hurricanes 40-19 during their opening Super Rugby trial game in Ashburton on Saturday.

In sunny conditions, the three-time defending champions gradually imposed their game on Jason Holland's side in front of a crowd of about 3600. New flanker/lock Ethan Roots stood out with his physicality and Ereatara Enari managed the game well at halfback.
