Scott Barrett returns for his sixth season with the Crusaders, although he actually played his first Crusaders game in 2014 against England.
The 2020 season also marks Scott's first as Crusaders Captain, having taken over from Sam Whitelock at the conclusion of 2019.
Rugby is in Scott's blood. His father, Kevin "Smiley" Barrett, played over 100 games for Taranaki and 33 matches for the Hurricanes in 1997 and 1998. Scott has four brothers, two of whom are also current Super Rugby players and All Blacks (Beauden and Jordie.)
Like his brothers, Scott played his schoolboy rugby for Francis Douglas Memorial College and was a standout performer in their First XV. Scott has also played for the New Zealand Under 20s and made his debut for the All Blacks in 2016, against Ireland in Chicago.
He is an athletic lock who has a great skill set and can also play at flanker.
