Seta Tamanivalu made the move to the BNZ Crusaders in 2017, having spent the previous two Super Rugby seasons with the Chiefs.
Seta is joined in the squad by his nephew, Manasa Mataele, who he grew up with in Fiji. As well as excelling at rugby while growing up, Seta was a member of the Fiji Secondary Schools Under 18 rugby league squad.
He moved to New Zealand when he gained a rugby scholarship to St Kentigern College. He made the Taranaki provincial team for the first time in 2012, and in 2014 he won the ITM Cup Player of the Year Award after helping Taranaki to the Premiership title. He played every game, switching from wing to centre to second five-eighth, and scored seven tries.
Superb form in the 2015 Super Rugby season saw him called into the All Blacks squad for the three test series against Wales the following year, and he has again been included in the squad for the 2017 end of year tour.
