After playing for Mid Canterbury in the 90’s and a career as a lawyer, Brad Mooar accepted a coaching position for a newly formed South African teams Eastern Province and Southern Kings in 2012.

His coaching roles varied across South Africa and Spain before returning to New Zealand to Head Coach the Southland team in the NPC for 2014 and 2015. From 2016-2019 Brad joined the Crusaders as Assistant Coach, aiding in the first three years of our seven year streak of Super Rugby titles.  

Brad moved back to the northern hemisphere as Head Coach of the Scarlets with huge success before returning to New Zealand as All Blacks attack coach, then in 2023 joined Scotland for the 6 Nations and Rugby World Cup with great results.

Returning to the Crusaders in 2025 as Assistant Coach, Brad said “my family and I are really happy to be back in Christchurch, and I’m really excited to be at Rugby Park again. It feels like coming home”.
