Ioane was identified in 2018 as a talented player co captaining the De La Salle College1st XV in the Auckland 1A Competition. In 2019 Ioane joined the Steelers Academy, going on to captain the Counties Manukau U19 Representative Team at the National Jock Hobbs Memorial Tournament.
He was then selected for the University of Waikato Chiefs U20s squad in 2020 and was playing for the Counties Manukau provincial side by 2022, scoring a try off the bench in his second game. He was the clubs second highest try scorer of their 2022 and 2023 seasons.
In a manner of flair, Ioane scored a try in his debut for the Crusaders in 2023 just nine minutes after arriving on the field in the second half, but out did himself in his second match a few weeks later by getting his second Super Rugby try after just three minutes on the field.
“I love the care of the brothers, the team, the bond that we have with the players its real genuine” said Ioane, “they talk about care here, and you really see it. There is a good family vibe and I find it really easy to just be myself”,
