2025 Junior Crusaders camp announced
A group of promising young rugby players have been selected to attend the annual Junior Crusaders camp, reinforcing the franchise’s development pathway for another year.
58 under-18 players will attend the three-day camp starting Monday 29th September which focuses on rugby skills as well as building an understanding of the off-field skills required to be a professional athlete.
A trio of Crusaders Assistant Coaches will lead the group – including James Marshall as Head Coach alongside Dan Perrin who will look after set piece while Matt Todd will take charge of the defence. Former Nelson College First XV Coach Jono Phillips will lead the attack.
Junior Crusaders Campaign Manager, Guy Lemon says he’s fortunate to have such a high calibre coaching group.
“This group will be instrumental in the development of these young men.
‘’Rugby is alive and well in the Crusaders region – the competition is strong and some great rugby has been played already this year.’’
Coaches will select 33 players to play the Hurricanes under-18 team in Christchurch on Friday 3rd October.
“Together with coaches and management, we’re looking forward to connecting as a group,” says Lemon.
“A huge thanks must go to our Talent ID team across the Crusaders region – this group give up their time to view games and feed back information that plays an integral part in the decision-making process. This group of Junior Crusaders is a testament to their work across the season.’’
Head Coach James Marshall says he’s excited for what’s ahead with the group.
“I’m really passionate about working with the future of this great franchise. There’s some serious talent involved in this group and I can’t wait to work alongside these young men. I’m really grateful for the chance to watch them grow and play a part in their future development.”
