Chay Fihaki extends with the Crusaders through to 2028

The Crusaders are thrilled to announce that Chay Fihaki has extended his contract through to 2028.
“I didn’t think twice about re-signing. This club has given me so much already and I’m stoked to lock in my future here,” says Chay.
Chay joined the Crusaders Academy in 2019, earned selection for the New Zealand U20s that same year and quickly showed he was built for this environment.
By 2021, he was pulling on the Crusaders jersey for the first time and becoming Crusader #246.
At provincial level, Chay has been just as impressive. He debuted for Canterbury in 2020, claimed the First Year Player of the Year award, and reached 50 caps in 2024.
His form continued to rise last season, earning him opportunities with the Barbarians against Fiji in June and the All Blacks XV in November.
Chay’s connection to this club runs deep, and it shows in the way he trains, competes and carries himself.
“This club means so much to me and my family, it’s a special place,” Chay says.
“Playing with this group around me, and the great support from coaches and team management is a dream come true.”
Re-signing through to 2028 means Chay is only building on what’s already a meaningful legacy.
He's just notched up his 50th Crusader cap, a milestone that speaks to both his impact and loyalty to the club.
