Several Crusaders players sustained significant injuries during Round 1 vs the Chiefs in Christchurch.
Fletcher Newell injured his plantar plate [the base of his big toe]. Following specialist review it was determined he required surgery to repair this. This was completed on Friday 10 March, and he will not be available for the remainder of the Super Rugby season.
Mitchell Dunshea damaged his pectoralis major [chest] muscle and required surgical repair. He will not be available for the rest of the Super Rugby season.
Cullen Grace injured his clavicle [collar bone]. It is hoped he will be fit to return for the Crusaders in approximately six weeks.
