Tamaiti Williams suspended for three matches after being cited in Chiefs game

Crusaders prop Tamaiti Williams has received a sanction following a Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC) process after an incident in the 15th minute of our Round 3 match against the Chiefs at FMG Stadium Waikato. 

The FPRC found that Tamaiti entered a ruck and made direct shoulder contact to an opponent’s head, with no mitigation. The act of foul play was assessed at a mid‑range entry point of six weeks. 

After Tamaiti accepted the decision, and with consideration given to his strong disciplinary record and genuine remorse, the Committee applied the full 50 percent reduction. 

Tamaiti has also chosen to take part in World Rugby’s Coaching Intervention Programme. This programme substitutes one week of the sanction if he passes. 

He will be unavailable for: 

Blues v Crusaders: Saturday 7 March 2026 

Crusaders v Highlanders: Saturday 14 March 2026 

Moana Pasifika v Crusaders, Saturday 21 March 2026*  

*Tamaiti will return for the Moana Pasifika game if he passes the World Rugby Coaching Intervention Programme.
