Zach Gallagher will play for the Hurricanes in 2025.
The lock debuted in the Bunnings Warehouse NPC with Canterbury in 2020, and with the Crusaders in 2022 – the same year he represented his country with the All Blacks XV.
He has since earned 19 caps at Super Rugby Pacific level with the club. He is Crusader #263.
“Playing for the Crusaders was always a childhood dream of mine, and now I can always say my professional career started with Canterbury and the Crusaders,” Gallagher said.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have such a high calibre of people around me, from team mates to coaches and staff. I wouldn’t be in this position without their help and support.”
The Christ’s College alum has signed a one-year deal with the Wellington-based franchise, whose impressive run to the 2024 DHL Super Rugby Pacific finals was undone by the Chiefs in the semi-finals at Sky Stadium.
“It hasn’t been an easy decision but I’m definitely looking forward to the shift north, being around new people and challenging myself in a new environment,” he said.
“I’m excited to explore a new challenge, a new opportunity and something different with the Hurricanes.”
