This community event has become one of our biggest annual fundraising drives. In 2023 we raised $50,000 for Kiwi kids diagnosed with cancer and their families, and in 2024 we raised more than $125,000.

On Friday 24 January 2025 we go again. We’re inviting absolutely everyone down to Rugby and Malvern parks to participate in a huge community day out. We want to smash our goals once again, so this time we’re aiming to complete 25,000 laps and raise $250,000.

Registration is free and open to everyone. Whether you’re walking or running, every step you take makes a difference towards this worthy cause. 100 per cent of the funds you raise go directly to Child Cancer Foundation, ensuring Kiwi kids and their families receive the support they need during their toughest times.

Fancy getting your workmates or regular mates together to bond over fitness and fundraising? We’re once again hosting The Long Run Corporate Challenge, inviting you to bring a marquee and make a day of it.

Last year Malvern Park was lined with team marquees, with groups challenging each other to do just one more lap. Each team given a baton to carry and keep moving for the entire day, adding to the race vibes and competitiveness.

If you aren’t in Christchurch, or can’t make it down on the day, this year we’ve launched a The Long Run Virtual Challenge where you can log your kilometres online and contribute to the total laps.

There’ll be inflatables for the kids, food trucks and activities galore. Our Crusaders Membership team will be on site to help you get closer to the club, and there’ll be a chance to meet and mingle with Crusaders players after they do an open training in the middle of the event.

We’ll have prizes for best dressed, fastest lap, most laps by a team, and a whole heaps. Expect a fun family day out, mixed with some of the biggest athletic achievements you’ll ever see.
