Scott Barrett returns for his third season with the BNZ Crusaders, although he actually played his first Crusaders game in 2014 against England.
The 23 year old has rugby in his blood. His father, Kevin "Smiley" Barrett, played over 100 games for Taranaki and 33 matches for the Hurricanes in 1997 and 1998. Scott has two older brothers: Kane played for Taranaki and the Blues, and Beauden plays for Taranaki and the Hurricanes, as well as being a current All Black. Younger brothers Blake and Jordie have both represented Taranaki in age grade rugby, and Jordie was also a member of the Canterbury side that won the Mitre 10 Cup in 2016.
Like his brothers, Scott played his schoolboy rugby for Francis Douglas Memorial College and was a standout performer in their first XV. Scott has also played for the New Zealand Under 20s and made his debut for the All Blacks in 2016, against Ireland in Chicago.
He is an athletic lock who has a great skill set and can also play at flanker.
