Aki Tuivailala played first XV for Hamilton Boys’ High School, leading them to win the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships in 2022. Three months later Aki played his 50th game for the side, beating South Africa 22-10 in the final of World Schools Festival Cup.
Naturally Aki went to the NZU20’s side to play 10 games before he aged out. In the midst he was selected for Waikato provincial side, scoring the opening try on his debut game against Auckland.
His performances for Waikato have led him to be selected for the Crusaders and will make his debut in 2025.
