James White went from the Christchurch Boys High first XV leadership group and Crusaders Juniors XV in 2021, to making the Crusaders U20 side in 2022 at 18 years old.
He made the Crusaders U20 again in 2023 as well as the Canterbury B squad. Later in the year, James was selected for the NPC campaign and became the youngest Canterbury player to kick 5 or more penalties in an NPC game. He scored a total of 49 points during his first season.
