Antonio Shalfoon has re-signed with the Crusaders through to 2026.

The 27-year-old lock says it was a no-brainer for him to stay at the club for another year.

"I've been loving it here this year; I've been getting a bit of game time, the environment is awesome and having the opportunity to get out on the grass every day and train, even if I'm not playing that week, has been good to set the boys up and do whatever I can to help the team, he says.

"I'm always looking to get better in my own role and in different aspects of the game. I'm just loving being around the boys every day and it's a good balance here: when you're on, you're on, but there's that off switch as well which means we're able to have a laugh, there's always plenty of laughs round here which makes you excited to come here every day."

Born and bred in the heart of the Crusaders region, Shalfoon is also enjoying having his family close by.

"Being back home has been pretty cool, it's awesome to have mum and dad here and them being able to come and watch me play."

As well as parental support, Shalfoon has extra family support inside the four walls of Rugby Park.

"My brother Carlito is the analyst here and we live together as well so I see him all the time. It's cool to come in every day and see him, he helps keep me in check!"

Head Coach Rob Penney says he's looking forward to seeing Shalfoon's game continue to flourish.

"Antonio's game has grown significantly this season, and I'm thrilled he's staying in the red and black for another year to continue to show what he's made of."
