Seven Crusaders who contested the 2024 DHL Super Rugby Pacific season have been named in the first All Blacks squad of the year.
In addition, Scott Barrett has been named the new All Blacks captain.
They are: Scott Barrett, George Bell, Ethan Blackadder, Fletcher Newell, Sevu Reece, Codie Taylor and Tamaiti Williams.
This includes George Bell as one of five debutants in the All Blacks jersey.
The announcement was made in Christchurch on Monday 24 June, and broadcast live on NZR+ and Sky Sport.
The 32-man squad will contest three tests through July, including two on home soil against England and one against Fiji in San Diego.
“As a coaching group, we are excited about the squad we’ve selected. We know it’s a group that can play the style of rugby we want the All Blacks to play in 2024,” said All Blacks Head Coach Scott Robertson.
Robertson said of George Bell and the other debutants: “It’s a proud moment for them and their families. They’ve earned their places through performance and consistency and it’s an exciting time in their careers. As coaches, we will get them ready so they can take their opportunity when it comes".
Crusaders pair of prop George Bower and midfielder David Havili will also assemble with the squad as cover.
