The Crusaders are heading to Invercargill for a Waitangi Day pre-season clash versus the Highlanders.
It’s a long-running rivalry, the Crusaders v Highlanders, and Thursday 6 February at Rugby Park in Invercargill will add another chapter to the history books.
As well as a chance to connect with people across both the Highlanders and Crusaders regions, pre-season games offer an unrivalled chance to test strategy just a week out from Round 1 versus the Hurricanes.
They are a critical part of high performance preparation for the season kicking off and for the team to push their fitness levels to match-day standards.
“This pre-season game is all set to be another tough derby against the Highlanders, who have always been a close rival for us,” Penney said.
“These matches are always eagerly anticipated and we know our loyal Crusaders fans from across the South Island will be vocal in their support.
“As always with these pre-season fixtures, we’re looking forward to connecting with our valued fans as we complete our final preparations for another exciting year of Super Rugby Pacific.”
With the game being on a public holiday, there will no doubt be a healthy Southland crowd in attendance.
The Crusaders will play one more pre-season game ahead of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season starting, with details of this fixture set to be announced shortly.
