One of our Crusade with Heart Foundations biggest events of the year is just a day away. We have set ourselves a huge challenge to raise $250,000 for The Child Cancer Foundation, and we couldn’t be more pumped.

Over 900 people have registered to run/walk laps of Malvern and Rugby Parks this Friday 24th January at The Long Run. This is an incredible showcase of how our community has gone all in this year, and the stats are already blowing last years out the gate.

The Corporate and Teams Challenge has grown exponentially with over 80 teams opting to have a marquee on the day (a great spot for fuel stops or a break from the sun). Each one will be filled by families, sports clubs, schools and corporate teams taking on the challenge of running/walking as many laps as they can, with the same purpose - raising money for a truly worthy cause.

How the day will run (pun intended):

  • 5:00am Registrations Open
  • 5:00am Hirt Lab Hiit Session
  • 6:00am The Long Run 2025 begins!
  • 7:00am Tamper Black Coffee on site
  • 9:30am -11:00am Crusaders Internal Hit Out
  • 12:30pm - 2:00pm Crusaders and Matatū Player connection
  • 5:50pm The Long Run last lap
  • 6:00pm The Long Run finishes!

Of course, there will be a selection of delicious Food Trucks on site from 11:00am, including Donuts, Dumplings, Ice Cream and more.

Here’s how some of our Long Run Legends are tracking so far:

Charlotte’s Army is leading as our top team fundraiser at the moment, just shy of a whopping $14,000 raised!

Ari’s Squad and Kingston’s Crusade have $2,406 and $2,089 respectively, both sitting in the top 10 team fundraisers.

There’s also a Battle of the Banks happening with BNZ Christchurch and Westpac with only $500 difference between them, in 3rd and 5th places.

Afuetele Tuitaupe for team Moana Va, Navigators of Pacific Pride has taken out the third highest individual fundraiser with $1,990 – nice! If you’re feeling left out, it’s definitely not too late to join in on the fun, registrations are still open online or you can do it on the day.

Get to Malvern Park anytime between 6am-6pm this Friday and be a part of this special day. There will be something for everyone while we unite as a community to raise money and awareness for such an incredible organisation
