We've had a good run... The Long Run 2026 called off early due to weather

We’re absolutely gutted to have had to call off the Long Run early.
This event means so much to us, but with the weather turning dangerous and thunder and lightning on the way, participant safety had to come first. It simply became too unsafe to continue.
Unfortunately, the weather got in the way of us seeing out the finish of the Long Run… but it didn’t get in the way of our cause.
Together, we’ve managed to run and walk an incredible number of laps before calling it a day, and every single one of those steps matters.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Your support – whether you ran, walked, volunteered, donated, or cheered us on – means the world to us and even more to the Child Cancer Foundation and the families who rely on them.
You’ve shown what true community looks like.
If you haven’t donated yet, there’s still time to make a difference.
Head to https://the-long-run-2026.raiselysite.com/ and help us turn this setback into something powerful for those who need it most.
For those of you who didn’t achieve your target today, or those who want to contribute from afar, you can still take part through the Aotea Virtual Challenge.
From 23 to 25 January, participants around the world can complete their own kilometres in a 48 hour window. Every kilometre logged contributes toward our 60,000 lap target and helps raise vital funds for the Child Cancer Foundation.
We will be back next year and bigger and better than ever.
From all of the Crusaders team and wider organisation, thank you.
